Meet Carol and Greg Guy

Together, we’ve transformed thousands of dogs and families across Edmonton and Alberta for over two decades. As the original Bark Busters Edmonton founders, Carol is Canada’s premier Grand Master Trainer and one of Canada’s Top Dog Trainers, having trained more dogs and families than any other Bark Busters trainer in the country.

Dog aggression is one of the most stressful behaviour problems a family can face – and one of the most misunderstood. Many owners are told their aggressive dog can’t be helped, or that punishment is the answer. Neither is true. With decades of experience and a deep understanding of canine behaviour, we specialize in helping families overcome even the most serious aggression challenges.

As certified Behaviour Therapists, we specialize in dog-to-dog aggression, aggression toward people, resource guarding, territorial behaviour, and leash reactivity. Every case starts with understanding why your dog is aggressive – fear, frustration, pain, or poor communication – and then teaching you the techniques to change it.

Training happens in your home, where the aggression actually occurs. No group classes, no stressful car rides. Just real results in the environment that matters most. Most families see a visible change during the first 2 to 2.5 hour session.

Did you know that each Bark Busters trainer & certified behaviour therapist is required to pass an aggressive dog safety program that keeps hundreds of trainers safe worldwide. All trainers are required to understand different types of dog aggression, fear and trauma, and know how to approach each situation calmly and safely. You are always in good hands with Bark Busters!

We Understand How Scary
Dog Aggression Can Be

You love your dog, but their aggression is affecting your entire family:

  • You’re afraid your dog might bite a visitor, a child, or another dog
  • Walks have become impossible – your dog lunges, barks, and pulls toward every dog or person
  • You can’t have guests over because your dog growls, snaps, or shows teeth
  • Mealtimes are tense because your dog guards food bowls, toys, or sleeping spots
  • You’ve been told your dog is “too aggressive” for group classes or daycare

You’re not alone. Aggression is treatable – and we can help.

Why Our Approach Works Where Others Fail:

  • In-home training addresses aggression where it actually happens
  • No punishment, no physical force  – this makes aggression worse
  • Communication-based techniques that create lasting change
  • You learn to read and redirect your dog’s triggers
  • Visible improvement often in the first 2–2.5 hour session
  • Lifetime Support Guarantee – you always have the help you need from Bark Busters.

Edmonton Families Who Overcame Dog Aggression With Carol and Greg

“Carol was a great trainer – I wish I had tried out Bark Busters sooner! We had been through many positive-reinforcement style group classes at several different trainers, and even had several rounds of private training…none of it helped with the deeper issues we needed to be addressed (pulling, lunging, barking incessantly, and generally being an ultra-guard dog). We have a whole new dog since our training.”

— Danielle & Mike S., Edmonton

“The training and information from Bark Busters is truly amazing. Within the first visit of three hours, our 6-month-old Yorkie was complying and learning her new role of following my husband and I as her leaders and not her. Wonderful that whenever we need more help, this service is available for the life of our dog. We would both highly recommend Bark Busters with Gregg and Carol.”

— Elizabeth Moland, Edmonton

FAQs

How much does training cost?

We offer a one-time fee that includes your initial assessment, training sessions, and lifetime support. Pricing depends on your specific needs. Call 587-489-8161 for a free quote, or book a consultation to discuss your situation.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients see noticeable improvement during the first session. As Elizabeth shared, within the first visit of three hours, her 6-month-old puppy started learning how to behave properly. Long-term habits take consistency, don’t forget! We schedule follow-up appointments to suit your dog’s needs and help you! Your lifetime guarantee means you always have the support you need.

Do you train all breeds and ages?

Yes! We’ve successfully trained puppies to senior dogs and all breeds. No dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.

What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?

Aggression is one of our specialties. Each Bark Busters trainer is trained on our unique “Stand Rite No Bite” system, and must pass a test to make sure they know how to safely approach aggressive situations. We use safe, effective communication techniques, and coach the humans on how to address the root cause of aggression to create lasting change.

Why in-home training instead of group classes?

Dogs behave differently at home, where they’re most comfortable and where problems actually occur. In-home training addresses the exact behaviours causing you stress, in the exact setting where they happen.

What does "lifetime support" really mean?

You can call us anytime – weeks, months, or years later – for advice or follow-up sessions. There’s no time limit. We’re here for the life of your dog.

Do I need special equipment like bark collars?

We do not use any form of shock collar. Your trainer will assess and advise you on what your specific dog will need. You do not need to buy anything in advance.

How long are training sessions?

The initial session is typically 2-2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques, and start seeing results immediately. The follow-up sessions are typically an hour.
