Basic Dog Training & Obedience
As your dog grows, so does the world around them. They are curious, smart and eager to please. The more training and structure in place, the better your journey will be together.
Dog training and obedience are about more than just teaching your best friend their manners. Techniques, such as the ability to recall your dog instantly, could save their life.
We recognize that dogs communicate differently from humans and understanding that difference is the key to a great relationship. Working together, we’ll teach you to read the subtle non-verbal and verbal ways in which they interact, so you can better understand them and they can better understand you. The more effectively you communicate together, the happier you both will be.
What We Can Help With
By reinforcing desired behaviours in a positive manner, your dog can better understand your expectations of them.
We will work together to help address:
- Rushing the door and barking when the bell rings
- Leash pulling
- Destructive chewing
- Choosing not to listen
- Jumping up
- Excessive and annoying barking at nothing important
- Not paying attention
Our Training Sessions
Private in-home sessions allow us to get to know your dog, their surroundings, and talk about your concerns. In our first session, we will discuss your goals for your dog and design a personalized program specifically catered to meet both of your needs.
Whether it’s a “tune-up” that makes life with your dog just that much better or addressing issues that are escalating, we will work together to build upon your dog’s skills and attention and re-establish your control.
Our Training Methods
Effective communication between dogs and their humans is at the heart of our approach. Our techniques focus on positive reinforcement. We know that a well-understood dog is a happy dog and we will teach you how to speak in a way that they instinctually understand.
As a result of our training session, our puppy is now leash trained, doesn’t rush visitors at the door, doesn’t command attention while he is in the house and doesn’t herd or nip at me going down the steep hill that accesses the trails!
