Meet Wil, Your Mississauga Puppy Trainer
I’m Wil Lawson, a Bark Busters Grand Master Trainer and certified Behaviour Therapist. Since 2008 I’ve worked with more than 3,500 dogs and their families across Mississauga, Burlington, Oakville and Milton, and helping families start a new puppy off on the right paw is one of my favourite parts of the job.
Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Biting, accidents, jumping, chewing and sleepless nights can leave you wondering if you’re doing everything wrong. You’re not. You just need the right guidance from day one.
I come to your home and work with your puppy where they actually live: at the back door for house training, in the kitchen for nipping and chewing, at the front door for greetings and on your own street for leash manners. I guide you through every stage, from the first week home through adolescence, so you know exactly what to do and why it works.
Every home is different, and I plan training around yours. A puppy in a Mississauga condo needs a different house-training routine than a puppy with a backyard in Oakville or Milton, from elevator rides and lobbies to busy sidewalks and visitors at the door. I help you set up a routine that fits the way you live.

We Understand How Overwhelming
a New Puppy Can Be
You love your puppy, but you’re exhausted and overwhelmed:
- Your puppy bites everything, including your hands, your furniture and your shoes, and nothing you try stops it
- House training feels impossible, whether you have a backyard or a condo balcony and an elevator ride to get outside
- Your puppy jumps on everyone who walks through the door
- Whining, barking and crate protests are costing you sleep
- Your puppy pulls, lunges or freezes on neighbourhood walks
- You worry you’re creating bad habits that will be harder to fix later
You’re not alone. Early training sets your puppy up for a lifetime of good behaviour.

What Mississauga Puppy Owners Say About Wil
Puppy Training in Mississauga FAQs
How much does puppy training cost in Mississauga?
We charge one flat fee per dog that covers your in-home assessment, your training sessions and our Life Of Dog Support Guarantee. Pricing depends on your puppy and your goals. Call Wil at 416-843-6445 for a quote.
When should I start training my puppy?
The earlier, the better. Puppies can start learning from 8 weeks old, and early training stops bad habits before they form. Whether your puppy is 8 weeks or 8 months old, it is never too early or too late to start.
What does in-home puppy training cover?
We cover house training, crate training, nipping and biting, chewing, jumping, leash manners and early socialization. We also work on anything specific to your home, such as young children, other pets or a busy front door.
Does my puppy need a licence in Mississauga?
Yes. The City of Mississauga requires every dog to be licensed, and the licence tag must be worn on your dog’s collar. Oakville requires a licence within seven days of getting your dog, and Burlington requires a licence for every dog, renewed each year. If you live in another community, check your local bylaw.
How do I house train a puppy in a condo?
Take your puppy out on a regular schedule, especially after waking, eating and playing, and plan for the extra time an elevator or a long hallway adds. Use the same exit and the same potty spot each time, and praise your puppy the moment they finish. We build a house-training plan around your building, your schedule and your puppy.
Can you help my puppy walk nicely on a leash?
Yes. In Mississauga, dogs must be on a leash whenever they are in public, outside of designated leash-free areas, and the leash can be no longer than 1.8 metres (6 feet), so calm leash manners matter from the start. We begin inside your home, then move to your yard or hallway and your street, and build up to busier routes as your puppy gains confidence.
Is puppy biting normal, or is it aggression?
Most puppy nipping is normal play and teething, but it needs clear boundaries early, before your puppy’s jaw gets stronger. If your puppy growls, stiffens or bites hard over food or toys, call us early. Aggression is one of Wil’s specialties, and every Bark Busters trainer learns our Stand Rite No Bite system.
Why in-home training instead of puppy classes?
Group puppy classes can overwhelm a young puppy and rarely address your specific challenges. In-home training teaches your puppy in the place they actually live, so they learn to behave where it matters most, and you get one-on-one attention for your puppy’s needs.
Do I need special equipment like bark collars?
No. We do not use any form of shock collar. Wil assesses your puppy and advises you on what they need, so you do not need to buy anything ahead of time.
How long are training sessions?
Your first session is typically 2 to 2.5 hours. That gives us time to assess your puppy, teach you the techniques and start seeing results right away. Follow-up sessions are typically an hour, and we schedule them around your puppy’s developmental stages.
What does the Life Of Dog Support Guarantee really mean?
Your support does not end when the sessions do. You can call us at any time, even months or years later, for advice or follow-up sessions. As your puppy grows and new challenges appear, we are here for the life of your dog.
What areas do you serve?
We train puppies in homes across Mississauga, Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, Acton, Halton Hills and Campbellville. For adult dogs, see our main Mississauga dog training page.
