Meet Ankush, Your Vancouver Dog Trainer
I have helped hundreds of dogs and their families across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, and many of those families have left me 5-star Google reviews. I work full time as a Bark Busters Behaviour Therapist, and families often call me when a behaviour problem feels too big to handle alone.
I grew up in a family of dog lovers, so I know the joy dogs bring. I have also seen the other side. After several dog incidents affected family members and friends, I decided to help owners build better relationships with their dogs through clear communication and proper training.
Lower Mainland living brings its own challenges. A dog that barks at every sound in a Richmond condo, pulls toward every dog on a Surrey sidewalk or panics when you leave for work needs help where the problem happens. I come to your home and coach your whole family, so you have the tools to keep the results going long after I leave.
Nothing beats watching an owner truly understand their dog for the first time, and seeing that relationship turn calm, confident and joyful.

You love your dog, but their behaviour is affecting your whole household:
- Guests stop visiting because your dog jumps, barks or growls at the door
- High-pitched barking stresses your family and bothers the neighbours through the walls
- Walks turn into a battle with every dog, cyclist and skateboard you pass
- Your dog panics when you leave, and you come home to chewed doors and complaints
- Your new puppy is biting, chewing and having accidents, and you are not sure where to start
- You have tried bark collars, muzzles and classes, and nothing has worked
You are not alone. This is fixable, and we can help.

Where Ankush Trains Across the Lower Mainland
Ankush Karwal trains dogs in your own home, right where the behaviour happens. Here is what he sees most often in the communities he covers.
Dog Training in Vancouver
From Kitsilano apartments to family homes in Shaughnessy, Vancouver dogs share space with a lot of people. Ankush helps with door and balcony barking, leash pulling on busy sidewalks and dogs who struggle when you leave for work.
Dog Training in Richmond
Richmond has a lot of condos and townhomes, which means shared walls and neighbours close by. Ankush handles barking at hallway noise, jumping on visitors and puppy house training in tight spaces, right in your home.
Dog Training in Surrey
Surrey families call Ankush for everything from new puppies to adult dogs who lunge at other dogs on the walk. He trains the whole family together so everyone handles the dog the same way.
Dog Training in Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen
Quieter streets do not always mean quieter dogs. Ankush helps with fence running, barking at passers-by and dogs who will not come when called, so your dog stays calm at home and on your walks.
Dog Training in New Westminster
New Westminster’s hills, older homes and busy streets give reactive dogs plenty to react to. Ankush works at your front door and on your own street, so your dog learns to stay calm in the places that set them off.
Dog Training in Langley, White Rock and Abbotsford
Bigger yards and family homes bring their own problems, like jumping, digging, guarding food and toys, and squabbles between dogs in the same house. Ankush brings in-home training to families across the Fraser Valley and the coast.
Dog Training in Vancouver FAQs
How much does dog training cost in Vancouver?
Bark Busters offers complete programs rather than per-session pricing. Your program includes the initial in-home assessment, follow-up sessions and our Life Of Dog Support Guarantee. Pricing depends on your dog and your goals. Call Ankush at 778-653-6951 for a personalized quote.
Do you offer puppy training in Vancouver?
Yes. Ankush comes to your home to help with house training, crate training, nipping and biting, chewing and early manners, so your puppy learns the rules in the place they will live. Starting early prevents problem behaviours from taking root. See our puppy training page for more.
Do I need a dog licence in Vancouver, Richmond or Surrey?
Yes. Vancouver requires an annual licence for every dog over three months old. Richmond licenses every dog over eight weeks for each calendar year. Surrey requires a yearly licence for dogs over three months, and your dog must wear the tag on their collar. In other cities, check your local bylaw.
My dog pulls on the leash. What are the leash rules in Vancouver and Surrey?
In Vancouver, your dog must be on a leash no longer than 2.5 metres in public, and you must hold the leash. Surrey’s bylaw caps leash length at 2 metres. If your dog pulls or lunges, we start in your home and on your own street, then build up to busier routes until your dog walks calmly beside you.
Can you help with barking in a condo or townhouse?
Yes. Barking at hallway noise, the buzzer or neighbours through the wall is one of the most common calls we get in Vancouver and Richmond. We find out why your dog barks, whether alarm, boredom or anxiety when alone, and show you how to calm it at the source.
How quickly will I see results?
Most Vancouver families see a clear change during the first 2 to 2.5 hour session, and you leave with techniques you can use straight away. Consistency between sessions turns that early progress into permanent habits, and your Life Of Dog Support Guarantee means you always have the support you need.
What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?
Aggression is one of our specialties. Every Bark Busters trainer learns our Stand Rite No Bite system and must pass a test on approaching aggressive situations safely. We use safe, effective communication techniques and coach you on how to address the root cause of the aggression to create lasting change.
Do you train all breeds and ages?
Yes! We have trained puppies, senior dogs and every breed in between. Our communication-based method addresses behaviour rather than breed, so no dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.
What does the Life Of Dog Support Guarantee really mean?
Your support does not end when the sessions do. You can call us at any time, even months or years later, for advice or follow-up sessions. There is no time limit. We are here for the life of your dog.
How long are training sessions?
The initial session is typically 2 to 2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques and start seeing results immediately. Follow-up sessions are typically an hour.
What areas do you serve?
Ankush trains in homes across Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Delta, New Westminster and Langley, plus Shaughnessy, Kitsilano, Ladner, Tsawwassen, White Rock and Abbotsford.
