Meet Michelle, Your Brantford Dog Trainer
I’m Michelle, your Canine Behaviour Therapist and Trainer, and I’ve been exactly where a lot of you are. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my Heeler/Pittie mix was becoming increasingly aggressive with people and with other dogs. I turned to Bark Busters in desperation, and the change in my own dog was life-changing. That experience proved to me that there’s hope for all dogs.
Today I bring that same help to families across Brantford and Brant County, right in their own homes. Whether you live in a newer West Brant subdivision, an older house near downtown, or out in the country around Paris or St. George, I come to you. We work on the problem where it actually happens: at your front door, in your backyard and on your regular walking route.
I have a special place in my heart for dogs who show aggression and are misunderstood. I’ll help you understand what’s going on, teach you how to communicate with your dog, and give you the peace of mind that you always have support. Read more about me and how I work.

We Understand How Frustrating
Dog Behaviour Problems Can Be
You love your dog, but their behaviour is wearing you down:
- Your dog drags you down the street before you reach the end of the block
- Every cyclist, jogger and dog on the trail sets off lunging and barking
- Your dog barks at every passer-by from the front window, and you worry about the neighbours
- Visitors get jumped on and mobbed before they are through the door
- Your dog panics when you leave for work, and you come home to damage
- Your new puppy is biting, chewing and having accidents, and you are not sure where to start
- You have tried classes, videos and treats, and nothing has stuck
You are not alone. This is fixable, and we can help.

Dog Training in Brantford FAQs
How much does dog training cost in Brantford?
Bark Busters offers complete programs rather than per-session pricing. Your program includes the initial in-home assessment, follow-up sessions and our Life Of Dog Support Guarantee. Pricing depends on your dog and your goals. Call Michelle at 905-853-0195 for a personalized quote.
Do you offer puppy training in Brantford?
Yes. Michelle comes to your home to help with house training, nipping and biting, chewing, jumping and early manners, so your puppy learns the rules in the place they will live. Starting early prevents problem behaviours from taking root. See our puppy training page for more.
Do I need a dog licence in Brantford?
Yes. The City of Brantford requires a dog licence by the time your dog is three months old, or within 10 days of bringing a new dog home, and you renew it every year. If you live outside the city in the County of Brant, check the County’s own by-laws.
What happens if a neighbour complains about my dog barking?
The City of Brantford handles barking complaints under its Noise Control By-law. Barking almost always has a cause, such as alarm barking at passers-by, boredom or anxiety when left alone. We find the cause and show you how to calm it, so your neighbours notice the difference quickly.
My dog pulls and lunges on the trails. Can you help?
Yes. Trails like the SC Johnson Trail between Brantford and Paris are shared with cyclists, joggers and other dogs, and the City requires dogs to stay on a leash no longer than 2 metres. We start at home and on your street, then build up to busier routes until your dog walks calmly beside you.
How quickly will I see results?
Most Brantford families see a clear change during the first 2 to 2.5 hour session, and you leave with techniques you can use straight away. Consistency between sessions turns that early progress into permanent habits, and your Life Of Dog Support Guarantee means you always have the support you need.
What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?
Aggression is one of our specialties. Every Bark Busters trainer learns our Stand Rite No Bite system and must pass a test on approaching aggressive situations safely. We use safe, effective communication techniques and coach you on how to address the root cause of the aggression to create lasting change.
Do you train all breeds and ages?
Yes! I have worked with puppies, senior dogs and every breed in between. Our methods address behaviour rather than breed, so no dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.
What does the Life Of Dog Support Guarantee really mean?
Your support does not end when the sessions do. You can call us at any time, even months or years later, for advice or follow-up sessions. There is no time limit. We are here for the life of your dog.
How long are training sessions?
The initial session is typically 2 to 2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques and start seeing results immediately. Follow-up sessions are typically an hour.
What areas around Brantford do you serve?
Michelle trains in homes across Brantford, including West Brant, Echo Place, Holmedale, Eagle Place, Mayfair and Lynden Hills, plus Paris, St. George, Mount Pleasant, Ohsweken and the rest of Brant County. For Hamilton, Haldimand and Norfolk, see our Hamilton and Brantford page.
Our Service Area
We proudly serve Brantford, West Brant, Echo Place, Holmedale, Eagle Place, Paris, St. George, Mount Pleasant, Ohsweken and the rest of Brant County.
Brantford homes bring us a particular mix of problems: dogs who bark at every passer-by on the tighter streets around Holmedale and Echo Place, and dogs who lose their manners completely on the Grand River trails, the Gordon Glaves Memorial Pathway and the SC Johnson Trail to Paris, where wildlife, cyclists and other dogs arrive without warning. Because we train in your own home, we work on the behaviour where it actually happens rather than in a hall across town, and you keep practising in the same place afterwards.
