Meet Monica Simpson

Since 2006, I’ve transformed nearly 3,000 dogs and families across Toronto. As a Grand Master Trainer and Behaviour Therapist, I bring a unique perspective shaped by my professional background in psychiatry and my Master of Health Science in Health Care Administration and Management. While human behaviour is incredibly interesting, I recognized early that dog behaviour holds equally fascinating complexities. My expertise in understanding behaviour patterns and systemic change translates perfectly into helping families transform their relationships with their dogs.

After adopting a rescue German Shepherd named May with serious behavioural issues, I discovered that my own training methods, which had worked with my other dogs, simply weren’t enough. Skeptical but desperate, I turned to Bark Busters and experienced an immediate shift in hope and understanding. That pivotal moment, when my trainer suggested I might have a gift for this work, became the catalyst for an 18-year career dedicated to helping families. As a certified Behaviour Therapist and Trainer, I specialize in changing the relationships between people and their dogs, understanding that proper communication can literally save a dog’s life.

My mission is simple: help dog owners understand their canine companions so they can enjoy relaxed, happy dogs.

It is so rewarding to have the opportunity to change the relationships between people and their dogs. Life is a lot more fulfilling when you understand each other, and in the most serious situations, it can help save a dog’s life.

We Understand How Frustrating
Dog Behaviour Problems Can Be

Your dog means the world to you. But their behaviour is exhausting you.

    • Your home feels like chaos every single day.
    • Friends and family have stopped coming by.
    • Walks turn into constant struggles.
    • You’ve invested in classes, tried different tools and methods, and nothing has changed.
    • The relentless barking drains your energy.
    • Their aggressive moments leave you feeling worried.
    • Seeing them panic when you leave is heartbreaking.

This isn’t sustainable. And it doesn’t have to be this way.

Why Our Approach Works Where Others Fail:

  • In-home dog training addresses real-world behaviours
  • No punishment-based methods
  • Tools and techniques designed to work long-term, not just mask the problem
  • We train you, not just your dog
  • Results often visible in the first 2–2.5-hour session
  • We offer lifetime support, which means you’re never alone

Toronto East Dog Owners Just Like You Are Finally Enjoying Well-Behaved Dogs

“Best dog trainer ever! Almost every day while walking our fur baby, we receive compliments from total strangers about how well-behaved she is. Our close friends and neighbours are astounded by the positive changes they have noticed since Monica has become our trainer.”

— Tofer Whitmire, Toronto

“Monica has been a godsend. Our adolescent Labradoodle Juno has had difficulty with reactivity and with household restrictions and discipline – a beautiful dog, but controlling our lives. Monica gave us the skills to get control of the situation and make our walks and entire household more enjoyable and relaxed. We’re still in training mode, but now it’s fun. We’re not all anxious all the time – especially Juno!!”

— Karin Dresher, Toronto

FAQs

How much does training cost?

We offer a one-time fee that includes your initial assessment, training sessions, and lifetime support. Pricing depends on your specific needs. Call 905-853-0195 for a free quote, or book a consultation to discuss your situation.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients see noticeable improvement during the first session. Long-term habits take consistency, don’t forget! We schedule follow-up appointments to suit your dog’s needs and help you! Your lifetime guarantee means you always have the support you need.

Do you train all breeds and ages?

Yes! We’ve successfully trained puppies to senior dogs and all breeds. No dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.

What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?

Aggression is one of our specialties. Each Bark Busters trainer is trained on our unique “Stand Rite No Bite” system, and must pass a test to make sure they know how to safely approach aggressive situations. We use safe, effective communication techniques, and coach the humans on how to address the root cause of aggression to create lasting change.

Why in-home training instead of group classes?

Dogs behave differently at home, where they’re most comfortable and where problems actually occur. In-home training addresses the exact behaviours causing you stress, in the exact setting where they happen.

What does "lifetime support" really mean?

You can call us anytime – weeks, months, or years later – for advice or follow-up sessions. There’s no time limit. We’re here for the life of your dog.

Do I need special equipment like bark collars?

We do not use any form of shock collar. Your trainer will assess and advise you on what your specific dog will need. You do not need to buy anything in advance.

How long are training sessions?

The initial session is typically 2-2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques, and start seeing results immediately. The follow-up sessions are typically an hour.

What areas do you serve?

Monica offers dog training services in East Toronto, including East York, Leaside, The Beaches, Don Mills, Willowdale, Forest Hill, Bayview, Bridal Path, Cricket Club, Hoggs
