Meet Graham Smith

Since 2007, I’ve transformed over 8,000 dogs and families across Montreal and beyond. Recognized as one of Canada’s top professional dog trainers, I’m a four-time recipient of the prestigious Founder’s Award for customer satisfaction, technical expertise, and overall performance, and earned the first-ever International Leader of the Pack Award for excellence in customer service. With a 98% post-lesson satisfaction rating, I’m one of the most trusted and respected trainers in the country. Coming from a background of entrepreneurial success, having built and sold a thriving Montreal-based advertising agency, I bring world-class service standards and proven problem-solving skills to every training session.

After 22 years of building a successful business, I recognized my true passion lay with dogs and their families. Determined to help owners build better relationships with their dogs through effective communication and proven training techniques, I became committed to delivering fast, effective, and lasting results. As a multiple award-winning Behaviour Therapist and Trainer, I specialize in resolving even the most challenging behaviour issues, from puppy training and separation anxiety to aggression and reactivity, with compassion and expertise.

My mission is simple: help dog owners understand their canine companions so they can enjoy relaxed, happy dogs.

I’m available seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, and I tailor my training to each client’s unique needs. When I’m not transforming dogs’ lives, I enjoy spending time with my three Golden Retrievers: Indy, Enzo, and Coco.

Dog Behaviour Problems Can Be

You love your dog. But their behaviour is draining you.

    • Your home feels chaotic.
    • Friends avoid coming over.
    • Walks are a constant battle.
    • You’ve tried training classes, tools, and techniques, and nothing has stuck.
    • The barking wears you down.
    • The aggression makes you anxious.
    • The separation anxiety breaks your heart.

It’s exhausting. And it doesn’t have to stay this way.

  • No punishment-based methods

  • We train you, not just your dog
  • Results often visible in the first 2–2.5-hour session
  • We offer lifetime support, which means you’re never alone

Montreal Dog Owners Just Like You Are Finally Enjoying Well-Behaved Dogs

“Graham has been an amazing help for our two dogs. He is patient, knowledgeable, and focuses on the solutions vs. the past/problems. He helped us with behavioural training but also had great advice regarding the diet and lifestyle of our dogs. He is quick to respond to all our questions, and you can tell he truly loves his job! We saw immediate results with our dogs, and training them has been a lot of fun! Graham has changed our life for the better, and I highly recommend him!”

— Lama A., Montreal

“Graham’s training completely transformed our understanding of a dog’s lifestyle needs. Beyond just obedience, Graham taught us creative techniques that drastically improved our dog’s behaviour. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly cares about your dog’s well-being, then Graham is the one.”

— David M., Montreal

FAQs

How much does training cost?

We offer a one-time fee that includes your initial assessment, training sessions, and lifetime support. Pricing depends on your specific needs. Call 514-592-1222 for a free quote, or book a consultation to discuss your situation.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients see noticeable improvement during the first session. Long-term habits take consistency, don’t forget! We schedule follow-up appointments to suit your dog’s needs and help you! Your lifetime guarantee means you always have the support you need.

Do you train all breeds and ages?

Yes! We’ve successfully trained puppies to senior dogs and all breeds. No dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.

What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?

Aggression is one of our specialties. Each Bark Busters trainer is trained on our unique “Stand Rite No Bite” system, and must pass a test to make sure they know how to safely approach aggressive situations. We use safe, effective communication techniques, and coach the humans on how to address the root cause of aggression to create lasting change.

Why in-home training instead of group classes?

Dogs behave differently at home, where they’re most comfortable and where problems actually occur. In-home training addresses the exact behaviours causing you stress, in the exact setting where they happen.

What does "lifetime support" really mean?

You can call us anytime – weeks, months, or years later – for advice or follow-up sessions. There’s no time limit. We’re here for the life of your dog.

Do I need special equipment like bark collars?

We do not use any form of shock collar. Your trainer will assess and advise you on what your specific dog will need. You do not need to buy anything in advance.

How long are training sessions?

The initial session is typically 2-2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques, and start seeing results immediately. The follow-up sessions are typically an hour.

What areas do you serve?

Graham offers dog training services in Montreal, Westmount, Côte Saint-Luc/Hampstead, Outremont, West Island, East End, Griffintown, Ile Bizard, Pointe Claire, Dollard, Kirkland, & Verdun/Nun’s Island.
