Meet Kyli Horton

I’ve transformed hundreds of dogs and families through my unwavering commitment to animal welfare and behaviour. As a Behaviour Therapist and Trainer, I bring invaluable expertise shaped by years of working in the animal care industry. From my experience as a kennel attendant at a veterinary clinic to my work as an animal behaviourist with Animal Services in Alberta, and several years in the pet food industry, I’ve developed a comprehensive understanding of canine needs and behaviour. My background in animal care provides the foundation for my passionate advocacy on behalf of dogs facing behavioural challenges.

During my time with Animal Services, I witnessed firsthand how many dogs lost their lives due to behavioural issues that were completely fixable with proper guidance and support. Those sobering experiences became my catalyst for change. Determined to prevent unnecessary loss and help families build better relationships with their dogs, I joined Bark Busters to educate and empower dog owners with practical, effective training methods. As a certified Behaviour Therapist and Trainer, I specialise in helping families understand their dogs’ behaviour and implement lasting change, ensuring that dogs and their owners can enjoy long, happy lives together.

My mission is simple: help dog owners understand their canine companions so they can enjoy relaxed, happy dogs.

My mission with Bark Busters is to educate and empower dog owners with practical, effective training methods that lead to lasting behaviour change and stronger bonds, so families and their dogs can enjoy a long, happy life together.

When I’m not training, I share my life with my American Bulldog Mawley, French Mastiff Penelope, and Labrador Denver.

We Understand How Frustrating
Dog Behaviour Problems Can Be

Your dog means everything to you. But their behaviour is draining you.

    • Your home is in constant chaos.
    • Friends and family have stopped visiting.
    • Every walk is a battle.
    • You’ve tried training classes, different tools, various methods, and nothing works.
    • The endless barking exhausts you.
    • Their aggression makes you anxious.
    • Watching them panic when you leave breaks your heart.

This can’t go on. But it doesn’t have to.

Why Our Approach Works Where Others Fail:

  • In-home dog training addresses real-world behaviours
  • No punishment-based methods
  • Tools and techniques designed to work long-term, not just mask the problem
  • We train you, not just your dog
  • Results often visible in the first 2–2.5-hour session
  • We offer lifetime support, which means you’re never alone

Newmarket Dog Owners Just Like You Are Finally Enjoying Well-Behaved Dogs

“In the first meeting, we learned more about our individual dog, ways to communicate with her and how she is communicating with us. We are so impressed with our dog’s responses and aptitude. Thank you, Sam, for helping us understand our pup better. We are excited about watching her reach her full potential.”

— Mirja Raita, Newmarket

“Earlier this year, we were frantically dealing with our Yorkie Radar’s anxiety problems and peeing on furniture when we had the good fortune of coming across a Bark Busters brochure and quickly connected with Samantha Mabee. Her 3-hour introductory at-home session was very helpful and provided us with a wealth of information, particularly insights into the mind of Radar and the pack mentality in general. Subsequently, she provided support by phone and then returned for another at-home session that finally resolved the peeing and anxiety problems for good. Sam has been wonderful – she knows her stuff, and we’re grateful for her ongoing, valuable support. Thank You, Sam!”

FAQs

How much does training cost?

We offer a one-time fee that includes your initial assessment, training sessions, and lifetime support. Pricing depends on your specific needs. Call 289-231-8675 for a free quote, or book a consultation to discuss your situation.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients see noticeable improvement during the first session. Long-term habits take consistency, don’t forget! We schedule follow-up appointments to suit your dog’s needs and help you! Your lifetime guarantee means you always have the support you need.

Do you train all breeds and ages?

Yes! We’ve successfully trained puppies to senior dogs and all breeds. No dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.

What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?

Aggression is one of our specialties. Each Bark Busters trainer is trained on our unique “Stand Rite No Bite” system, and must pass a test to make sure they know how to safely approach aggressive situations. We use safe, effective communication techniques, and coach the humans on how to address the root cause of aggression to create lasting change.

Why in-home training instead of group classes?

Dogs behave differently at home, where they’re most comfortable and where problems actually occur. In-home training addresses the exact behaviours causing you stress, in the exact setting where they happen.

What does "lifetime support" really mean?

You can call us anytime – weeks, months, or years later – for advice or follow-up sessions. There’s no time limit. We’re here for the life of your dog.

Do I need special equipment like bark collars?

We do not use any form of shock collar. Your trainer will assess and advise you on what your specific dog will need. You do not need to buy anything in advance.

How long are training sessions?

The initial session is typically 2-2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques, and start seeing results immediately. The follow-up sessions are typically an hour.
