Bark Busters Story

30 Years, Helping Over 1 million Dogs!

Bark Busters is an incredible story of two people who followed their passion and created a legacy that has had an incredibly positive impact on the well being of dogs around the world.

In the 1980's Sylvia Wilson was the manager of the RSPCA shelter in Wollongong, Australia. Danny Wilson was a volunteer there. Both were very frustrated by the amount of dogs being surrendered because of behaviour problems. Most people wanted to keep their dogs, but felt the problems were too severe to be cured and giving the dog up, as painful a decision as it was, was the only option. Unable to accept the status quo, Sylvia began working with these dogs. She applied all she had learned about dog behaviour and training and used her incredible ability to read temperaments and understand dogs. This resulted in the dogs being rehabilitated and returned to their families. Sylvia's reputation for miraculous results grew and an ever increasing number of dog owners sought out her help. She quickly realised the only way to help all the dog owners in need was to focus on behaviour training full time and to train other like minded people in her techniques to carry on her work across the country. Thus, in 1989 Bark Busters was born. It grew through Australia and New Zealand in the 1990's and in the early 2000's spread to the UK, USA, Canada, Japan, and Spain. Today it is the largest dog training company in the world. So far, Bark Busters has touched the lives of over 1 million dogs.

Sylvia and Danny's mission for Bark Busters is to save as many dogs as possible from being surrendered to shelters or euthanized because of behaviour problems. Today, over 252 trained Bark Busters carry on with this mission day in and day out...and love every minute of it.
