Meet Brenda Ray

Brenda has transformed over 1,000 dogs and families across Muskoka and surrounding counties since 2006. As a Grand Master Trainer and Behaviour Therapist, she’s one of Ontario’s most experienced and trusted dog trainers. Coming from a background in computer science, Brenda made a deliberate choice to follow her true passion: helping families and their dogs build stronger, lasting relationships.

After years of successful training experiences, starting as a teenager with her standard poodle Peppy, she became determined to help other families experience the unconditional love and joy that dogs bring. Recognizing that pets enrich our lives in countless ways, Brenda became committed to ensuring families stay happy long-term through proper training and communication. As a certified Behaviour Therapist and Trainer, Brenda specializes in teaching owners the skills they need so behavioural improvements last, while honouring the unconditional love and companionship dogs provide.

Her mission is simple: help dog owners understand their canine companions so they can enjoy relaxed, happy dogs and share that same love with their families. When she isn’t training, Brenda volunteers at the OSPCA and local shelters, contributing her expertise back to the community and helping dogs in need.

“The opportunity to work closely with both dogs and families is a perfect fit for me. I want everyone to stay happy for the long term. Pets enrich our lives by loving us unconditionally and giving us another reason to get up in the morning. They deserve the best we can give them.”

You love your dog. But their behaviour is draining you.

    • Your home feels chaotic.
    • Friends avoid coming over.
    • Walks are a constant battle.
    • You’ve tried training classes, tools, and techniques—nothing sticks.
    • The barking exhausts you.

It’s exhausting. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Barrie Dog Owners Just Like You Are Finally Enjoying Well-Behaved Dogs

“I was at my wits’ end with my 7-month-old Boston Terrier puppy. Brenda was able to give me the tools and train me how to use them to understand and change his behaviours. Now I have a puppy who is a joy to have around.”

— Sherry Young, Barrie

“Brenda from Bark Busters was amazing. She helped us regain a level of sanity with out mixed pack. Our work is just beginning, but we saw immediate improvements in each of our dogs! Plus, she is always just a phone call away if we need extra help! Would definitely recommend Bark Busters to anyone having any issues with their dogs. Thank you, Brenda!”

FAQs

How much does training cost?

We offer a one-time fee that includes your initial assessment, training sessions, and lifetime support. Pricing depends on your specific needs. Call 705-514-0116 for a free quote, or book a consultation to discuss your situation.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients see noticeable improvement during the first session. Long-term habits take consistency, don’t forget! We schedule follow-up appointments to suit your dog’s needs and help you! Your lifetime guarantee means you always have the support you need.

Do you train all breeds and ages?

Yes! We’ve successfully trained puppies to senior dogs and all breeds. No dog is too old or too stubborn to learn.

What if my dog is aggressive? Is training safe?

Aggression is one of our specialties. Each Bark Busters trainer is trained on our unique “Stand Rite No Bite” system, and must pass a test to make sure they know how to safely approach aggressive situations. We use safe, effective communication techniques, and coach the humans on how to address the root cause of aggression to create lasting change.

Why in-home training instead of group classes?

Dogs behave differently at home, where they’re most comfortable and where problems actually occur. In-home training addresses the exact behaviours causing you stress, in the exact setting where they happen.

What does "lifetime support" really mean?

You can call us anytime – weeks, months, or years later – for advice or follow-up sessions. There’s no time limit. We’re here for the life of your dog.

Do I need special equipment like bark collars?

We do not use any form of shock collar. Your trainer will assess and advise you on what your specific dog will need. You do not need to buy anything in advance.

How long are training sessions?

The initial session is typically 2-2.5 hours. This gives us time to assess your dog, teach you effective techniques, and start seeing results immediately. The follow-up sessions are typically an hour.

What areas do you serve?

Brenda offers dog training services in Barrie, Innisfil, Orillia, and Simcoe County
