We thought we needed some help around training, but it was confirmed after I broke my finger while dealing with my dog on a walk.

Our dog, (an adorable male Newfoundland) Cabot was just under 2 years old and weighed in at 130 pounds when we contacted Bark Busters for help. Bark Busters approach to training was the match we needed to help us deal with Cabot and his behaviours.

Cabot really enjoyed charging the front door as well as pulling and lunging at anything and everything he came across during our walks. Bark Busters approach allowed us to deal with these issues during one on one training sessions working within our neighborhood, as well as other issues in our home.

Through our training with Bark Busters we soon realized that because of Cabot’s size and strength and the safety concerns that go along with this, it was necessary for us to establish confidence in strong leadership skills when dealing with Cabot. This is where Krystal, our trainer joined our team.

With Krystal’s expertise and knowledge, she was able to guide us through the process of gaining the skills necessary to control and interact with Cabot. We have been able to transfer these skills from our home to our neighborhood, Dog Park to visiting family and friends. We had the extreme pleasure of having Krystal as our trainer and we are thrilled to report that today, Cabot is 2.5 years old, 163 pounds and we have a well-balanced pack! Thank you Krystal.

Krystal has been absolutely fantastic in helping us to better understand Tessa and her "challenges". It's been very interesting to see how the two girls reacted to the changes. We were surprised to hear that Krystal thought Libby was the dominant dog, but when we saw how they reacted, I could see how Libby must have thought she was the boss. Tessa reacted like she was relieved to find out she was off duty, whereas Libby walked away and gave us this look like "screw you!" For a couple of days she acted like she'd been handed a serious demotion, but she seems to be over it now... I am writing this letter to share my gratitude with Bark Busters and with their awesome trainers, Krystal and Brad Harper, who helped me gain the confidence and the leadership skills I lacked to share with my dog Brody and to help make him a better pet.

Brody is a spirited little fellow who is so cute and honestly sometimes hard to resist. I had a few challenges with him in puppy training, like barking at other dogs on walks, in the car and at home, dropping things that did not belong to him, and just an overall confusion sometimes of who was in control in our family. Krystal and Brad helped show us the way, by taking us on a journey to discover more about what makes each other tick, between humans and dogs. With their patience and unique style, they really understood us as a family and worked with our needs each time they came to visit, until we all understood and began to demonstrate real improvement. They never once made me feel like a failure for not training properly and guided us to do the right things, never giving up on us along the way. It was truly a wonderful journey to go on with them, especially seeing the positive results after each session between Brody and I. I was amazed how some of the poor behaviour stopped instantly with them, and how eventually others stopped too with my newly learned leadership skills.

Today Brody is a grown up dog, and I too have grown for the better, we enjoy our time with him every moment and he is so well behaved on walks and with other dogs now, it is a joy to take him with us everywhere!

Not only am I grateful for Krystal, Brad and Bark Busters, I have found 2 nice friends along the way, Brody loves them too!
