Review:
Dear Dr. P,
I wanted to tell you about a training method that has finally worked for my very lovable but very dominant little Australian Cattle dog. I have tried three different training schools, but had little success.
One day as I was being taken for a drag by Rusty we went past a house that had a car in the driveway with the logo www.barkbusters.ca on it. The young woman watching the sorry sight of me being towed behind my dog offered to teach him and me a better method. She came to the house for one-on-one training and went at a pace that my dog and I needed. First she observed Rusty, my sister and I and how we all interfaced together while she talked. Then she had us ignore Rusty completely (a new experience for him. believe me!) while she continued with the lesson. She told us what we should and should not be doing to make Rusty realize that we are the leaders, not him. It was quite an eye opener for both my sister and me. The first thing we tried was the method to stop him from racing past us to the front door when the door bell is rung. He learned it immediately, after ONE demonstration!
Rusty no longer rushes past me to the door, walks beautifully beside me (we call him A Perfect Little Gentleman now) and no longer tries to jump up and bite me. Yes, bite me. If he just starts to bark like a maniac when going out for a pee, I know how to stop him instantly. My son visited not too long after our training session, and he couldn’t believe the change in Rusty, and how much calmer our little guy is. Rusty is a much happier, more relaxed dog, and I am really happy to have a well-behaved little dog. Bark Busters also offers a life of the dog guarantee and will keep coming back to work with us all even if any new problems develop.
