Review:
Buddy was the baby in the family for 4 years until the baby came along. He always had high anxiety, and bad behaviour when guests would come over and usually nipped if someone attempted to pet him. He started to act out towards the baby as she grew and started to notice him. It was then that we realized his agressive behaviour could no longer be ignored. We had tried a variety of training services with no success and thought he would be better off with a family that didn't have small kids. It broke our hearts but thought we were doing what was best for all of us and sent Buddy off to his new home. Within a week we got a call saying he bit his new owner when he was trying to take something away from Buddy, and he decided he didn't want him to stay, so we took him back. Not knowing what to do, I asked our vet if there was some sort of agression test to see how bad he actually is since he never really bit any of us. She mentioned bark busters and had heard good things about the services and how they work with your dog in your own home and they keep coming until the problems are fixed!
When I called, our trainer came out within days after listening to our story and how desperate we were to try and keep him in the family. It was amazing! She came the first day and walked us through everything, gave us the tools to work with him and by the time she was ready to leave you already saw the difference in Buddy! She e-mailed me for the next appointment that evening, and called a few days later to check in and make sure everything was ok. By the time she came back 2 weeks later she also noticed a difference in his anxiety at greeting people at the door and did some more training on having him and the baby together without anxiety or fear. This is still the beginning and I know we have a lot of work still to do, but I haven't been this optimistic in years, and we're on the road to having the family dog we always wanted!
