Cass & Ozzie

Dog Name:  Ozzie

Dog Age:  7 yrs.

Dog Breed:  German Shepherd

Behaviour issues:

On-leash aggression to humans and dogs, pulling, barking at the door, separation anxiety, fear issues

Outcome Descriptions:

Ozzie had both a physical and visual impairment and it was clear that this was the route of his issues.  Most of the aggression that the owners were noticing was based on the fear that he was experiencing.  He constantly felt the need to take on the protective role of himself and his owners. It was clear that he wasn’t capable of deciding what was safe or harmful and he needed strong guidance and leadership.

This way he would feel much safer.  Because of Ozzie’s impairment and history of abuse this was one of my most taxing and rewarding cases to date. We took the time to establish the owners as strong leaders first and foremost before addressing his aggression issues. Ozzie has improved significantly and he is a much calmer dog after all.

Client Comment / Review:

I had a very difficult case since my dog has both a visual and physical impairment.  He developed extreme fear aggression towards dogs and people. I was considering giving up on my dog since the stress was becoming overwhelming.  Nik gave clear guidelines and instructions and was very supportive.  He did extensive research for my dog's special problems and came up with many different ideas to try.  Nik made several follow up visits, e mails and phone calls to make sure my dog and I are continuing to make progress and ensure that Ozzie becomes a safer dog. I would gladly refer Nik and Barkbusters to others who are struggling with their pets' behaviours.  Thank you Nik for saving my dog! :)
