Dog Name: Bodhi
Dog Age: 1 yr. 6 mos.
Dog Breed: Boxer
Behaviour issues:
Separation Anxiety, leash pulling, recall
Bodhi is a really well behaved dog in the Spadina area – eager to please but was a little confused with the pack structure and left to believe leadership was up to her. Her owners wanted to cure her Separation Anxiety before it became severe on the advice of their vet and were encouraged to call us for help. Bodhi had bitten and bent the wire on her first crate as she suffered from separation anxiety so her owners had started to leave her out and while she luckily had not yet resorted to destructive behaviours they would video tape her and see her standing on the dining room table in full howl - clearly Bodhi was not in a peaceful zen state!
Outcome Descriptions:
By the end of our session Bodhi was showing signs of submission, both Erin and Samir could not remember ever see her little nubbin (boxer tail) down. They also clearly understood that Bodhi had been leading them through passive dominant ways and how that had taught her that they were clearly not in charge. During the leash training where Bodhi would normally bolt out the front door and start her marathon drag she was now walking submissively just behind her two owners – they had never seen this in the almost 2 years they’d had her!
