Marlo M.

Trainer(s): Monica Simpson
Hendricks

Dog Name:  Hendricks

Dog Age:  2 Yrs.

Dog Breed:  Great Dane

Behaviour issues:

Aggression to other dogs and people in hats/glasses ect, food aggressive, excessive barking in the house, pulling on lead.

Hendricks is now a 180 lb dog but when he was a year old he was attacked by a German Shepherd and then another attack occurred shortly thereafter by yet another German Shepherd. As he grew and developed he started to go after not only Shepherds but also other dogs. He was also very possessive of his food and ‘his’ house. He would aggressively bark at anyone coming to the door or even around the house and would lunge at people wearing certain articles of clothing. His owner, Marlo, could not walk him (and was physically taken down by him) due to his pulling/lunging. Although Marlo was a great dog owner Hendricks did not respect her as a leader.

Outcome Descriptions:

After the first session Hendricks began to give up the leadership role. His demeanour relaxed significantly and he stopped patrolling the door and became much more respectful of Marlo. At subsequent sessions we conquered the fear aggression towards German Shepherds and were able to walk with May, my Shepherd, and do an actual, appropriate on lead greeting. Marlo now walks Hendricks with confidence and can tell him to leave people in hats/glasses/helmets alone.

Client Comment / Review:

Thanks to Monica my relationship has completely changed with my dog Hendricks. She came into my home and "trained" me on how to be a more dominant and consistent leader. It is not easy to manage a 180 lb dog if they are not well behaved! I can now once again enjoy walks with him and have the confidence that I can control him. Life inside our home is also much more pleasant and relaxed. BIG thanks Monica!
