Lucy Bertacco

Trainer(s): Tara Dracup
Griffin

Dog Name:  Griffin

Dog Age:  2

Dog Breed:  Lab cross

Behaviour issues:

When I first met Lucy and her family, if they didn't pay attention to Griffin, he would demand attention by jumping, mouthing, stealing and destroying the furniture. The family was tired and at their wits end with Griffin's behavior.   Lucy couldn't walk Griffin because he was too powerful.  He would lunge and growl at people and dogs as well as mouth Lucy's arm.  Griffin was constantly trying to prove he was more dominant than his humans.  I knew when I met him we were up for a big challenge.

Outcome Descriptions:

Lucy and her family were diligent about following the instructions I gave them.  I'm happy to say, it paid off!  They can now enjoy their free time at home without Griffin demanding attention or destroying the furniture.  Lucy can walk Griffin without worrying that she will be pulled over or mouthed.  Griffin is the calmest I've ever seen him.  He seems happier now that he doesn't have to prove himself as the leader.

Client Comment / Review:

Griffin, a black lab/shepherd/boxer mix entered our lives quite unexpectedly.  He belonged to my daughter’s girlfriend’s litter, and he needed a home. He was 8 weeks old.  He spent a few days at our house and insinuated his way into our hearts.  So this “bundle of joy” became ours!

We knew nothing about training a dog; so within weeks, Griffin, who is a very confident, dominant dog, was running amok, creating havoc in our previously peaceful household. He jumped on us and on visitors, he destroyed our living room furniture, and on walks Griffin experienced leash frustration whenever he encountered people or other dogs. Walks were becoming a big safety issue.

We were quite literally at “the end of our leash” when we called Barkbusters.  A friend of mine was very pleased with the results, and my vet also recommended them. From the moment that Tara stepped foot in our house, the situation started going from chaos to gradual calm.

With Tara’s expertise, calm demeanour, and “bang on” work plan, we finally started to see some positive changes in Griffin.  With a lot of hard, consistent work, Griffin became a calmer, happier, and more balanced dog. Walks still continue to be somewhatof a challenge, but once again Tara has been working with us, and we have some excellent tools to work with.

Griffin is two years old now, and we adore him!  I would readily recommend Barkbusters, and especially Tara to any frustrated dog owner.
