Behaviour issues:
Anxiety, fearful of new people and situations, barking, and pulling on lead.
Ali had separation anxiety and would bark and whine when left alone. Her owners live in an apartment building, so the concern was two-fold. Ali was a rescue from the Burlington Animal Shelter, and had a fearful disposition around new people and situations. This caused Ali to become very nervous and she would attempt to hide or pull on her leash when she was walking.
Outcome Descriptions:
After our initial session, we were able to identify the root causes of Ali’s anxiety and nervousness. Ali is learning to stay more relaxed when left alone. She has also become more confident on her walks and no longer pulls on her leash which allows her to enjoy her time outside. Ali is happy to have leadership in place from her owners. We continue to work on these issues, but progress has been significant.
Client Comment / Review:
Ali came to us at the shelter back in January of 2010 and was turned over as a stray. She was very timid by nature and appeared to display more aggression while she was in the shelter environment. She was afraid of men and would be aggressive towards people through the cage, which made her not so appealing for adoption.
I decided to break her down and gain her trust to see if there was any possible chance of rehabilitation, and from there Ali and I grew a strong bond. When I adopted her from the shelter, she had high anxiety that even I could not break. I decided to call Bark Busters for some additional help to aid her in training. I was floored by the transformation.
It was just a matter of hours after Jason Martincich met with Ali, and I instantly noticed a significant change in behaviour. He taught me all the pertinent information and necessary skills to train the aggression and high anxiety out of Ali. Today, Ali is a completely different dog with no behavioural issues. Her aggression is obsolete and she is still making leaps and bounds thanks to Jason giving me the tools to work with her.
