Danielle

Trainer(s): Lisa Marshall

Dog Name:  Hank

Dog Age:  2

Dog Breed:  Beagle

Behaviour issues:

Hank was adopted and has a sweet and loveable nature. But his separation anxiety was extreme - so much so that his new and very patient owner couldn't even leave her apartment for a moment to run down the hall and check on laundry without the entire building knowing it. hank has quite a howl!

he had also urinated on Danielle's bed on several occasions (did I mention she was patient?), would not seperate from her, hated confinement and a crate and had no recall skills or leash manners.

luckily for Hank _ Danielle was home for a month and had the time to work on curing his separation anxiety. the rest was about building leadership and respect.

Outcome Descriptions:

We worked on the separation anxiety by teaching Hank that it was okay to be in a room without Danielle present and establishing some leadership so that he started to respect her. Trust issues were not really a factor here.

by introducing a crate the toilet training process was sped up instantly by limiting his free roam and not allowing him up on the bed.

Danielle is now able to not only leave hank while she does laundry down the hall but so she can go out attend school or hang with friends knowing he is fine, relaxed, quiet and calm in his crate while she is out. Hank loves his crate - it's now a place of safety and a food source as well as a bed.

She worked on recall and now trusts him in certain off leash areas.

All in all they have a much healthier relationship together.

Client Comment / Review:

received Sunday June 19th " I am so happy with my dog's improvements as a result of our training with Bark Busters. I was in a desperate situation when I called and now we are doing so much better. My dog has improved in so many ways besides the initial major issue of separation anxiety - he even seems to have more confidence with other dogs!! "

update sent to me sept 12th 2011

"Hank is doing very well.  His recall is greatly improved - enough so that I bring him with me down the hall to do laundry - off leash! I will also let him off leash in the front grass area sometimes (usually at night when it's quiet) and he is doing really well with that too. I have also noticed at the dog park that he actually layed down on his back while playing with other dogs - on two different occasions!"
