Carolyn and James M.

Trainer(s): Monica Simpson
Duncan

Dog Name:  Duncan

Dog Age:  4 Yrs.

Dog Breed:  Labradoodle

Behaviour issues:

Extreme and severe separation anxiety, excessive barking in the house, pulling on lead.

One of the most challenging cases I’ve had the pleasure of working. This young family could not leave the house without getting complaints of constant barking and without worrying about the excessive amounts of panting and drooling Duncan was engaging in while they were out. There was also a concern that he would hurt himself trying to escape to get to them. They had tried to manage the situation by always having someone home but when Carolyn’s maternity leave ended this was not an option. Also, they just wanted to go to the park as a family and have some fun.

Outcome Descriptions:

Duncan has spent all of his life feeling that he was protecting his pack and so he could not bear to have them out of site. We worked very hard to have Duncan understand that there were great pack leaders in the house and they didn’t need his help. Duncan gave up the leadership role and started trusting his people. The family can now leave him alone for the entire day.

Client Comment / Review:

Without Barkbusters we would not have been able to keep our labradoodle, Duncan.  We were truly at the end of the rope when we met Monica.  He was never your run of the mill dog and was a challenge to all who knew him. She worked tirelessly with my family, the dog, other Barkbusters trainers and veterinary experts to help us learn to manage our relationship with the dog.  When others were telling us that "drugs" were our only hope, she listened to our concerns and this is something we managed to avoid. We remain grateful to her for not giving up on Duncan or us and helping him remain a part of our family.
