Dog Name: Gilligan
Dog Age: 7 Yrs. 6 Mos.
Dog Breed: Pomeranian/Maltese
Behaviour issues:
Barking and jumping up were high on the list of problems, Brenda lives in a condo and worried about the neighbours complaining about Gilligan’s barking; there were also problems with Gilligan rushing past Brenda to go through doors; pulling on leash and some dog aggression.
Brenda was an experienced dog owner when it came to larger dogs but she had struggled with Gilligan’s behaviour. For the first four years of Gilligan’s life Brenda had her Catahoula Leopard dog that helped her keep Gilligan in line. Since she lost the bigger dog three years ago Gilligan’s behaviours became more and more challenging.
Outcome Descriptions:
Because of Brenda’s experience with dogs it only took one visit from me to get Gilligan to accept her as the pack leader. Brenda was just not comfortable correcting a smaller dog but once she realized she could do this without being physical it all came together for her. Gilligan no longer goes crazy jumping, barking and spinning when Brenda comes home and is much quieter in the house. Brenda also finds it much more pleasant to take Gilligan for walks now.
Client Comment / Review:
I am so pleased with a method that does not include any sort of physical correction. I am confident that I can now control my dog's unwanted behaviours in a manner that does not add to my stress level. He has turned around completely and is a pleasure to live with, again. I am used to having large dogs and was always a little afraid to correct him physically so this is much better. He stops before every door and looks to me for guidance. I could not be happier with the results.
