Sherri is great. She just came for the first time last night and believe it or not, we are already seeing a difference. After she left, we played outside with our dogs for a while and they were great! The commands and training aids really work. I was astounded at how quickly it began working. their behaviour at the door has vastly improved as well as their behaviour getting out of the car at daycare. They still need lots of work when passing other dogs and when a new dog arrived at daycare just ahead of them last Friday.

We adopted Molly and Sophie as puppies. They are such darlings and would melt your heart regardless of the trouble they seemed to find. Molly had this way of trying to pretend that she couldn’t hear you when she knew she was up to no good or didn’t want to come when called – she’d turn her head the other direction ever so slightly but you could see her eyes going back and forth, looking at Sophie as if to say, ‘is she looking’ at me?’. Both girls had their unique challenges, particularly due to their size as they were both well over 80 lb Great Pyrenees dogs. We’d tried other trainers with little success including clicker training – and with that we had only moderate success.

Molly was a particular challenge as she had a stubborn side. She did all the things that you can imagine. Jumping up and overwhelming visitors, poor recall, chewing – even getting so worked up in her kennel if left alone for a few hours that she would go far beyond keening and barking, but would manage to push the kennel tray out and make a real mess...

I had found Bark Busters online and was delighted when Sherri was available to come that next week.

It was remarkable to say the least. Sherri spent one hour with Molly, and within that short period of time, I could not believe my eyes. Even my neighbors commented that they thought I had a different dog. She had completely calmed down and became this happy, confident puppy. It only took a few sessions with Sherri with both girls. Sherri was always willing to drop in for a quick ‘refresh’ or to help with a correction.

We have since added Oliver to our little family. He’s a 2.5 lb Maltipoo that will grow to a whopping 5 lbs. You may think at first glance that he would be much easier to train, however, his name is in direct relation to being a little Dickens. He may be less than 5 lbs but his will far surpasses that of even Molly. What we’re also learning is that it probably has more to do with us than Oliver as we know we’ve been treating him differently because of his size – and he’s so stinkin’ cute. So Sherri has her hands full again training us all over again. But we know she’s up for the challenge.

Sherri is truly the ultimate ‘dog whisperer’ and we would recommend her without hesitation. In fact, we would go so far as to say that there is no one that matches her skill or her love of animals. She is truly gifted and incredibly patient with humans since they’re harder to train. Add to that, she has the wittiest sense of humour and is a wonderful soul. Anyone’s pack would be lucky to have her. We’d happily provide a reference for her if anyone wanted to talk to one of her loyal fans.

In order to address dog/dog fear agression issues it is often necessary for Bark Busters trainers to use their personal pets as a tool when working with client dogs. The following was written by a recent client as if being written by their dog Brady to my dog Joey:

Hello Joey!

Sorry it's been so long since we last talked. I hope things are still ok between us?? No hard feelings right!!!?? I figure I am way past due for an update, so here you are!

I have now officially lived in my home for 7 months and FINALLY, FINALLY feel calm, relaxed and like I belong!!! I really, really, tested my owners for the first six months. So much so that I am pretty sure I heard them talking about "placing" me in a new home!! (yikes!) So I knew I had better shape up....STAT!

Things now are great! I am getting TONS of exercise. I am still on that stupid long leash cuz my owners have not trusted me ever since I ran away to Tim Hortons. But "I" know I could be off leash. I just have to convince them I'm FINE!!!! I am eating a new brand of dog food called OriJen. It tastes really good, and gives me a beautiful shiney coat. I have lots of strong, rubber toys to play with because I still really like to SHRED soft toys. Don't YOU!!???? I am getting VERY VERY good (if I do say so myself) at playing CATCH. I used to not like my indian, rubber ball that your "mom" told me to play with but I DO NOW!!! I can catch it way up in the air.

I am working on my agility skills in HOPES that MAYBE (!!!!!!!) my owners will take me to agility class, or super dogs this fall/winter!!!!!! Wanna come???? My owners work different schedules all the time, and they leave me in my crate during the day. That is sooooo FINE with me. I like it in there and when they say the word "crate" I run straight in there. (no fights....ever!) I started not loving sleeping in my nite time crate in the bedroom with my humans. (it was WAY toooooo hot) so, my humans now let me roam the house independently ALL NITE!!!! They used to worry but now they know they can trust me to just rest peacefully on the landing all nite!! (actually, between you and me, once I know they are asleep, I sometimes sleep on the COUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahah! They have NO idea!!) I have one last thing to tell you about. (maybe 2!) I really like hanging out with my humans on the deck. They used to have to bring my crate outside so I would not PACE. Now, I like to sit in their new patio chairs!! Oh ya, and about the front door. I used to like to escape (to Timmies for a honey dip) now I run to the door to SEE MY HUMANS. I am sooooo excited when they come home cuz I know they will nourish me with love!!!! I have gained some weight and "buffed up" quite a bit. I think you'd find me quite attractive!!

My owners like to take me on car rides. I sometimes drool a little all over the back seat but not NEARLY like I used to!!!!!!!!!! I am starting to learn millions of different human phrases. Your "mom" told my humans that Border Collies are very smart so I have to live up to the expectation!!! My humans were starting to wonder if I would EVER learn a SINGLE COMMAND....EVER! I showed them!!!!!!!!!! Now I know at least half a dozen! Well....I hate to BRAG so, I guess I should sign off! I hope you and your humans are doing well!

I have a 9 1/2 year old Basset Hound who was driving me crazy! I had read lots of books, watched TV shows and tried all kinds of things.
